Is the irony that Japan just elected a far-right PM?
When I lived in Japan, far-right parties used to drive around blaring out propaganda from loudspeaker vans. People saw them as public nuisances at best, dangerous nutters at worst. Interesting to see Matt Goodwin adopt the same strategy.

GenAI outputs a homogenized statistical average of all the stuff that was stolen to train it.

Think about what that does to the aesthetics of a person raised on it, imagine subversive and erotic and queer art made by a person who has only ever known Mcdonalds ads, muzak, and advertising copy.

NBA is the only professional sports league in the world where a team that is actively trying to lose is beating another team by 40
February 12, 2026 at 3:52 AM
Do Lakers even keep this under 20? That's the question

I understand the step back looks sick - but watching Harden play basketball is such a miserable experience. There's literally no other league in the entire world where touching someone's wrist on a drive is a foul at all

This new Bulls squad is a perfect example of the fucked up American AAU/youth basketball system. All of their guards are so trash at anything except hesi pulls.

Catching a rare Magic game. What are the odds Paolo gets moved this off-season?

Not to be rude but the Heat being this bad and miserable is quite funny. Their best young player is Larsson...

Two guards with competing careers for weirdly falling apart in the playoffs. How interesting!
RT @espn: Harden x Spida 😤

This new duo in Cleveland 🔥

Am I losing it? Hasn't every other municipal govt of a large city given these companies everything they wanted and let them do this?
Corporations will not exploit working people in NYC.

Uber Eats, Fantuan & HungryPanda broke the law — shortchanging workers while raking in profits.

Today, we secured $5M+ in restitution for 49,000 delivery workers.

Let this be a warning: steal wages, face the consequences.

A Mighty Wind has been one of my favorite movies since high school. Watching now and sobbing

MacDuffie's rule of 3 will always ring in my head. And unless it's Tyler Perry or Tubi, black folks always either get called the hard R or die. I can imagine Coogler asking "does literally everybody need to die" and the producers cackling while saying "yes of course".
Did we watch the same movie?

I got lots of black folklore, a little bit of a power fantasy thing going, and finally putting some respect on the blues in the modern era.

What was the trauma?

Finally saw Sinners. It was fine. I liked that the barn looked real. It wasn't 16 Oscars good but then again Oscars mean nothing. I'm sick of black trauma movies and don't know what vampires had to do with anything. But I'm all for exploring music and the black church all day

i think we often neglect the degree to which nixon’s resignation was a result of him having a mental breakdown over the mounting stress of Watergate and other humiliations

he was joking about a gun in his desk. he was talking to Kennedy’s portrait. he was drunk dialing DC personalities at 2:00 AM

Negronis have no business being this simple and this good. It should be illegal. I get what they did in the 20s.

One of my absolute favorite things is how much black folks can't stand Erivo but the yts love her.

With that said, an X-Men musical would be fun. Hugh Jackman would be in heaven

I love Christopher Guest movies and by their design they were always only as good as the comedic actors involved and it’s one of the absolute purest ways to see just how much people like Catherine O’Hara and Fred Willard brought to the job. It sucks to lose them but it’s also just magic to see them

Nah.
Breaking news: Catherine O’Hara, the actress and comedian who delivered deliciously silly performances in movies such as “Beetlejuice” and “Home Alone,” and gained a new generation of fans as Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” has died.

She was 71.

This essay ended up getting pretty popular (the most popular of Issue 8 so far). People really seem to like interesting philosophizing about mythical creatures often seen in fantasy narratives!

my perhaps puritanical opinion is that this stuff is brain poison and exposing yourself to it makes you stupider. I'm sure there are right-leaning historians and classicists who contribute worthwhile research to the commons but right-wing political theory is ex post facto practically by definition
these people seem like idiots
