If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.

Every country in the world has figured out that all they have to do is give Trump some amazing sounding false promise to announce so he can take credit for a “win” and they can get whatever they want in return. He craves personal credit and fluffery - substance is irrelevant.

The President wants to use the military to crack down on Americans who are exercising their 1st Amendment rights to oppose him. I can’t think of a better reason to insist on exercising those rights.
