this nightmare story is (justly!) making waves, but don't sleep on one apt detail: The Liberty where this took place, is the former Suffolk County Jail, now "cutely" rehabbed into a luxury hotel with bars called Clink and Alibi. carceral capitalism and gender disciplining, hand in hand!
living in mass provides legal protection, for which we are all lucky. however, the trans community here will unfortunately still be subjected to bigots.

Not gonna lie, it's really good to see Obama saying not to capitulate and to lose your federal funds instead of doing fascism willingly.
Too many organizations have been throwing LGBTQ+ people under the bus to save their funding from Trump.
