OK, maybe I'm a tad paranoid, but PM Carney's eagerness for a U.S. trade deal, his former digs at the world's largest private equity joint, and U.S. private equity's drooling over Canada's healthcare, makes me shudder.

Dan, the NL Public Liberry's home delivery guy, slipped in a surprise on his last run: William Ping's "Hollow Bamboo". So far, it's another "Whaddahoot!" novel. A bit of humourous fantasy reminiscent of some of Christopher Moore's _ @theauthorguy.bsky.social _ stuff.

Oh, well fuck, the last thing these people would ever want to do is "something shameful"

Ladies and gentlemen, we got 'em!!!!!
Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

So unfortunate.

The budget.

It puts $5 billion into “health infrastructure,” which sounds like healthcare funding. But is it?

My breakdown for Canada Healthwatch looks at what’s new, what’s missing, and why health is now being framed as infrastructure.

OK. If you're in NL, go open your outside door and look to the east at the moon. Everytime I see the moon, day or night, I feel as though I were an alien visitor from a moonless planet and wonder why the local inhabitants aren't all standing outside and pointing at it and going, "WOW!"

While researching my current column, I had trouble finding something PM Carney said in a speech in either Factiva or Google, so I tried asking ChatGPT-5 to search for it. This was its internal response.

It hallucinates in basic searches. It can't write truth. It can't copyedit. What is it good for?

How's this for a compromise: Alberta pays initial and continuing costs to preposition oil spill cleanup infrastructure along the BC coast, promise (HAH!) to indemnify BC for actual oil spill cleanup costs, and BC will only take a relatively small "taste of the gate".
