Well, what do you know. Almost a decade in the criminal justice system and I guess I developed some pretty good instincts. A reader just showed this to me and it does now look like the entire DHS story is a pile of bullshit.

The people protesting right now pretty obviously aren't being paid. But every time someone makes this dumb argument, it's also worth pointing out that it's isn't a crime to pay people to protest, nor is it a crime accept money to protest.
Which isn't to say they won't "investigate," anyway.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.
