We are now thoroughly in the agonal gasps of 2025.

Would anyone like to join me in asking this year to politely take its things and fuck straight off?

Even in these times of rapidly shifting norms, there was something shocking about the recent Home Office change in internal guidance, slipped in without the need for legislative scrutiny, to deny British citizenship to anyone arriving in the UK “in an unauthorised manner”;
Denying refugees citizenship? How low can we go?

Free speech is dead in Trump’s America.

Like all authoritarian states, free speech doesn’t extend to criticism of their regime and leader. Educators, lawmakers, newspapers, critics, are all being threatened and silenced while history is being erased and rewritten - it’s all so familiar

Brexit betrayal!!

Whether Brexiters truly believe their cries of betrayal, surely it’s time to challenge the rhetoric

From former Tory ministers, a GB news presenter or an Express ‘journalist’, the sour grapes attitude smacks of irony

Fixing Brexit’s damage isn’t ‘betrayal’
Every attempt to limit Brexit’s damage is branded a “betrayal” – but it’s the broken promises of 2016 that still haunt Britain

FYI.
The fact that Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Elon Musk attack the UK and the EU over the ‘erosion’ of freedom of speech, yet not Russia is so telling

Plus - Here’s the latest World Press Freedom Index: 21 out of the top 30 were European.. The US ranked 57 and falling, with Russia at 162.
