I don't often share my own emotions here.I mostly stick to facts&reason. But I'm actually a very emotional person.

The situation in #Kyiv with freezing people in cold homes that are left without electricity,heating &water during the cold winter after deliberate Russian attacks is simply terrible⤵️

27 January 1939 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Margaretha Beatrice Swartberg, was born in Groningen.

In October 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz with her mother Maria Sara and younger sister Judith Josephine. Most probably they were murdered together in a gas chamber after selection.

And it still is a gap that Germany is not pooling projects, together with partners (and yes, I know, 🇩🇪 is financially not dependent on the loans, while EU partners are)

A narrative, the European Union (as a whole! not only few member states) should embark on: Sovereignty is not for trade.

Translates not only into territorial sovereignty but also in sovereignty of using the means at ones disposal.
Denmark and Greenland are not alone.
Good to see my colleagues Troels Lund Poulsen and Vivian Motzfeldt.

Arctic security is a shared transatlantic interest, and one we can discuss with our US allies.
But tariff threats are not the way to go about this. Sovereignty is not for trade. (1/2)

Europe should hold a competing football competition in Denmark at exactly the same time - and call it the Viking Freedom Supercup.
It might sound silly, but I mean it: The easiest and most potent way for Europe to hurt Trump this year is to once again use its cultural soft power and to threaten a boycott of the World Cup. It would become a completely meaningless event and would hurt him where he is most vulnerable - his vanity.

An in person #EuCo would indeed be an important sign of European assertiveness and unity, given the gravity of the situation.
A potential launch of the Anti-Coercion instrument against the US should be deliberated and decided on the highest political level.
My consultations with member states on the latest tensions over Greenland reconfirm our strong commitment to the following:

▪️ Unity on the principles of international law, territorial integrity and national sovereignty;

▪️ Unity in support of and solidarity with Denmark and Greenland;

These are not "normal" trade tariffs.
For the first time, US economic pressure on Europe is explicitly tied to brutal political demands: surrender territory or face economic punishment.
This is a historic test for Europe.

Relevant point to keep in mind 👇🏼.
The far right (at least in central Europe) will always face strong difficulties to unite due to antagonistic views of the past. Even if they walk together on some issues, at the core they face diverging views of the past.
This story is also a reminder that any wet dream of pan-European far right alliance is doomed to blow up over the competing priorities of playing up domestic grievances, which inevitably involve something that happened around 1945.
