The poems of Michael Rosen are loved by children, which is what qualifies him as a hugely successful writer. As Robert Louis Stevenson knew, success has nothing to do with wealth.

10 Little Questions with Lindsay Littleson
When did you start writing and why? I was an avid reader and wrote stories from about the age of 8. I wrote my stories while hiding under the kitchen table, as I didn’t want to share my writing wit…

Mentioned my favourite review yesterday:
"I am sure many will enjoy this story, but I am not one of them." It cut me deeply at the time! Any other authors have a review that is stuck like glue in the memory?

I've checked and you can easily squeeze one or two of these children's books into a Christmas stocking.

I’ve posted this before, but the empathy part seems absolutely crucial right now!
My parenting/teaching advice is read stories to your children. Don’t stop when they can read by themselves. It will develop empathy, build confidence, increase vocabulary, spark their imaginations, help them to fly.

Lovely couple of days in Wolverhampton and Telford, visiting two delightful schools to talk about Titanic and the joys of reading. Being a children’s author continues to be the best job in the world!

Ice Cream Boy by @lindsaylittleson.bsky.social is another great book portraying dementia. I’d also recommend My Dog by Olivia Wakefield which covers death of a parent, The Bravest Word by Kate Foster which deals with depression and Buzzing by Samuel Sattin which addresses the affects of OCD.

40 years ago today, R.M.S. Titanic was discovered by a joint American-French expedition led by Robert Ballard. It’s the perfect day to read The Titanic Detective Agency! All the characters were real life passengers or crew on the doomed ship. #Titanic

It’s publication day for Linnet and the Periwinkle Flyer, set in Victorian Leeds and featuring some weird and wonderful inventions. Stunning cover by the talented Elise Carmichael. Inspired by the magical creations of Percy and Ella Pilcher, Glasgow-based pioneers of flight.
