They feel enabled and vindicated by politicians who’ve made hatred and bigotry mainstream again. It’s depressing because I’d naively hoped people in the UK were becoming more progressive and tolerant but the likes of Trump and Farage are dragging us back to the bad old days.

Ice Cream Boy by @lindsaylittleson.bsky.social is another great book portraying dementia. I’d also recommend My Dog by Olivia Wakefield which covers death of a parent, The Bravest Word by Kate Foster which deals with depression and Buzzing by Samuel Sattin which addresses the affects of OCD.
