Thrilled to announce that Amanda Jones @librarianjones.com has prevailed in her latest court battle against Michael Lunsford & Citizens for a New Louisiana. In a unanimous decision the LA Supreme Court has declined to hear Lunsford's request for dismissal, leaving the 1st Circuit's ruling intact.

What began as a slow trickle of propaganda has become an all-out flood of it.

How and where the regime has taken over IMLS to fuel their priorities at the expense of taxpayers, civilian federal workers, and public goods.

Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes... Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared...

Hey, Ohio, we know you love your libraries, but some of your state legislators don't. They are trying to push something that is unconstitutional, and will cost Ohioans a lot in legal fees. Tell your legislators NO OVERRIDE ON THE LIBRARY BUDGET BILL. NO HIDING BOOKS!
Even more bad library bills being proposed in state legislatures. Don't just read and understand what's at stake here–take action to help stop their progress.

Attempts to suppress LGBTQ+ books in libraries? They're not happening at the local level, folks.

The FBI’s raid today on the home of @washingtonpost.com reporter @hannahnatanson.bsky.social is an alarming escalation in the Trump administration’s war on the press.

This isn't just about Florida. It is about a model that far-right legislators would like to copy in nearly half of the states in the country.
21 states made it official this week that they want to steal your First Amendment Rights of free speech away from you.

No one is coming to save us, y'all. WE need to save ourselves.

The Blueprint of Censorship In 2026 Is Florida, Right Now
This week, we learned 21 states are eager to dismantle your First Amendment Rights. It should be bigger news.

Thank you @librarianjones.com and Suzette Baker for this powerful piece. 38 million Americans now live in an unfortunate place and time where censorship is legal.
“Authoritarians gain power when citizens stop paying attention. Visit your local library, check out books, and keep reading. If we stay unified and informed, we can ensure reading w/out restriction remains the foundation of our democracy and a fundamental freedom for all.”

When outside groups pressure school boards that lying about state law is the "Christian" thing to do... 🤦‍♂️
Which parents are the ones who get "parental rights?" In Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School District (OH), it's those who want to ban books featuring any "sexuality content" or "gender ideology." Inside the school board's educationally-destructive new policy:

Congratulations to Amanda Jones, whose defamation lawsuit is settled on her terms: $1 (admits liability) and a public apology. Poor thing, watch how many takes it took him to spit it out! Brava, Amanda, who has gone on to acclaim, while this guy is, and rightly so, in the pits.
#Freedomofspeech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. Ryan Thames tried to bully a dedicated educator simply because she supported #freadom. What he didn't expect was for her to fight back. #truth #supportlibrarians @librarianjones.com @uabookbans.bsky.social @ncacensorship.bsky.social

Same thing with book bans. It isn't about one book that offends you. It's about the First Amendment. If you remove that one book, you are "woefully naive."

How does the legislature renege on its agreement (the Fair School Funding Plan), which was instituted because its underfunding violated the Ohio constitution??
The budget passed by the Ohio Senate last week (with bipartisan opposition), was the worst collection of public education policies I have ever seen. It makes me wonder if Statehouse Republicans are simply trying to put Ohio's public schools out of business. We discuss it in this week's ICYMI.
