It's crystal clear: a pending criminal indictment does NOT cure the clear illegality of this attack under int'l law. It violated the UN Charter in just the same way Russia's attack on Ukraine did. And unlike our 1989 Panama invasion, there seems not even a pretense of a threat to Americans there.
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."

Im seeing discussions about consultations with congress, authorizations of force etc. I have to say this transcends any of what I would call sub constitutional technicalities. The president has gone to war with a foreign power and, it seems, kidnapped a foreign head of state on the basis of nothing.

RIPE had a banner year in 2025. Prior to this year, submissions to the journal were consistently increasing by about 2-10% per year. In 2025, submissions jumped by nearly 50%. RIPE received 910 manuscripts compared to 618 in 2024 and 552 in 2023, a significant deviation from our long-term trend.

If we want to be pedantic about it. It's an intricate hierarchy, not just a two-tier system. I'd compare it to Singapore's workpass system, layered on top of so many different "intersections" of citizenship, class, caste, gender, local/global market value, etc.
