This is the only time of year when my flower purchasing competes with Elton John’s. My rooms are resplendent with £1 daffs and an occasional treat of some £5 tulips. Why aren’t there cheap flowers at other times of year?

Just in case you want to cry this Sunday morning
There’s a lot of anxiety and misery around right now. So I think everyone should read this lovely story about the kindness of strangers. I guarantee it will give you a lift.

So much time for Gwen.
Kind strangers' gesture after spotting, Gwen, 93, dining alone
It was an act of kindness that spurred the 93-year-old to reach out to the ECHO

AOC: “I understand that VP Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, & I do not — That is a fundamental difference between VP Vance & I — I do not believe the American people should be assassinated in the street”

I was at my Aunty’s 86th birthday last night and it always strikes me as mad that there is 8 years difference between her and my Mum because my Grandad went away to war and only got demobbed in 1946

"Assuming no change in the rate of taxation, and all other things being equal, the exchequer will lose the thick end of £100bn in tax revenues this year.

Far from having to raise £26bn in extra taxes, Reeves could have chosen to halve the 20% rate of VAT with money to spare."
Brexit: the trillion pound ‘mistake’
The recent NBER report suggests the Treasury’s 2016 analysis – slammed by Brexiters as a ‘hoax’– actually understated the impact of Brexit

One of the most useful exercises Manchester council did a few years ago was send out a questionnaire when they had to make cuts asking what you wanted them to prioritise. They listed all their costs. It was an impossible job. Perhaps the Reform council in Kent should have had a go

This was 3 months before I was due to move to Manchester for university. Lived here for several years with large swathes of the city centre just screened off
The IRA detonated a 3,300lb lorry bomb on Corporation Street, Manchester, at 11.20am #OTD 1996, the biggest bomb detonated in Britain since WW2. Four coded warnings meant that no one died, but 220 were injured and damage to the city's retail and commercial core was extensive.

Just landed back from holiday to my phone going mad with the horrible news from Liverpool. My family all went to celebrate the last game yesterday as today would be too crowded for my Mum. My thoughts are with anybody who was caught up in it. What a tragic thing to happen in our wonderful city.
