I would recommend that people watch the wartime movie, The Pimpernel Smith, with Leslie Howard.

Wednesday Evening Noir: Of Human Bondage (1934)

Going with some early noir/proto noir. It is yet another of these early noirish films that star Bette Davis; top bill goes to Leslie Howard.

Renowned painter and set decorator John Armstrong designed the costumes for 1934’s The Scarlet Pimpernel. Memorable for its humor and its commentary on war, humanity, and love, the film’s elaborate costumes are notable as well.

Percy Blakeney sailed so that Bruce Wayne could fly

(I adore the Leslie Howard/Merle Oberon version 💕)
Of course I had to watch The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934) today.

Fun trivia: Stan Lee called The Scarlet Pimpernel "the first character who could be called a superhero."

Leslie Howard was such a good Percy/Pimpernel. For me, no one else quite measured up.

Rosamund John worked with Leslie Howard on three films.
“Howard taught me everything I knew about film-making,” she said. “He made me realise that the only thing that matters when you are filming is what you are thinking and feeling, because it will show in your eyes.” #BOTD

Spring Byington plays the star-struck Aunt Ella Paisley in It's Love I'm After (1937), opposite Leslie Howard & Olivia de Havilland.
Byington is remembered for Little Women (1932) and You Can’t Take it With You (1938), often playing kindly and at times eccentric, motherly characters. #BOTD
