People want to be with other people. A recent event showcased the wisdom of William H Whyte, and I ask: why don’t our public spaces follow his lead? www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/art-...
Parks should be made for people. Why does such an obvious idea elude us?
We need to create spaces where people want to gather, as William H. Whyte argued, but the central requirements are sadly absent in Canadian public spaces

Shawn Micallef: The family that owns Loblaw are offering $50 million to spruce up Queen’s Park? We should look that gift horse in the mouth
It’s hard to envision how $50-million worth of improvements will fit in Queen’s Park North, a greenspace that was recently renovated and is well used.

I started to answer, when he continued,"Or did you type it?"

Up early, looking at LA fire maps, praying a fresh blaze doesn't move north toward the abode of a beloved cousin a few miles away. Which is insane, of course, as I don't want it heading south or east or west either. People all over. But this is the human condition: We love most that which we know.
