and long covid is more common in kids than childhood asthma.
We see officials saying #COVID cases are rising but healthy kids don’t need to worry. This study found reinfection doubles the risk of Long COVID in kids.

Sincerely, families who believed you when you said our kids weren’t at risk — and now they’re disabled.
COVID-19 re-infection doubles risk of long COVID in kids, young adults, data reveal
The second infection was also tied to a 50% or greater increase in several specific long-COVID conditions, including myocarditis and fatigue.

My first covid infection was Feb 2020; it wrecked my lungs. I masked up&continued to mask because I have lupus& my beloved is also an autoimmune sufferer. My rheumatologist’s nurse gave me my 2nd inf., when I was asked to remove my mask to check my mouth. How I wish I hadn’t! Pretty disabled now.
‘We might die because you won’t wear a mask’: A plea to health-care workers.

"Yes, it’s time to mask again. We need to do better. We know how to do better. We can save so many lives and preserve the dignity of patients in the process."

I don't think Covid waves mean much anymore, since we've constantly got mutating strains of Covid in the community. Vaccines are lagging behind the variants. Masks protect against all variants and are 100% protection against Long Covid too.

Avital & exciting book. And. One of the most beautifully, evocatively written pieces of non-fiction I’ve encountered.

I read the Secret Life of Plants; I was so disappointed, it took me a long time to try the subject again. So glad I did!

It takes a lot to really excite a 69yo. This. ⤵️
Hey pals, the paperback of The Light Eaters comes out tomorrow. I have some events coming up - cute little East Coast tour. Come say hi if you're in the area. More to come in the fall 🌷

Just ran across this. In the ongoing discourse around what LC is, many people reject anything that isn’t ME/CFS.

But as we in this community know, LC takes many forms, attacking any & every part of the body. …/2

There’s a lot of people who want to fight fascism yet won’t wear a mask

Fascism & eugenics go hand in hand. They’re coming for the disabled and chronically ill

Wearing a mask shows solidarity with disabled people, while also protecting your health so you’re better equipped for the fight

Given the proposed mask ban in New York, now feels like a good time to remind folks that disability advocates in Illinois are trying to codify the right to wear masks into law

If successful this could be a critical step in protecting the right to mask across the US

See below for how you can help!
Mask bans already exist in certain States and counties.

Vance spearheaded a federal ban on mask mandates.

Organizing to codify the right to wear medical masks and respirators is (sadly) needed.

Masking is community care and resistance.
