I’ll argue with categorizing this list as Britpop, but this is the most solid “best of 2025” list I’ve seen so far.

The Saint Etienne @rockingbob.bsky.social and @mikiberenyi.bsky.social picks are particularly exceptional calls.

I am fortunate enough to have two homes. One in Pittsburgh, one in Chicago.

The best gas station food in PGH was from Get-Go, owned by Giant Eagle NEVER Sheetz.

Chicago is like, fuck that, we have bars with good food, and public transportation.

Chicago wins. Again.

TIL the stores are named after a guy.

RIP, Mr. Sheetz, I appreciate a place where I can find a clean restroom and get a custom chicken sandwich.

I kinda wish my label was caustic instead of toxic.

I’ve been pretty inebriated since NYE, and something can be caustic without being toxic.

Still seeing way too many people I consider well-informed thinking this is a good move by Schumer. It isn't. You gotta remember his audience on Morning Joe. This is a surrender flag, a fundraising pitch. He's gonna fold like a chair again and get zilch at the next shutdown in a few weeks
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

I choose to believe he was on a mission to save all the sofa’s, loveseats, and cute little upholstered chairs in the basement.

This is Trump’s primary source of “news”.

All the levels of stupidity raging hard.
Brian Kilmeade: "I watch Landman so I feel like an expert."

Ainsley Earhardt: "We’ve learned a lot about crude oil from The Beverly Hillbillies, and a lot about the latest techniques from Landman."

Kilmeade: "We could go to school. But why, when we can watch sitcoms?"

It would be an incredible historical irony if the only two times Article 5 was ever used were first to protect the US, and second to protect an ally from the US itself.

* read this 🧵*
Can we just stop and put this into perspective:

Our Scandinavian allies put out joint statements today condemning the United States, and Denmark went as far as explicitly threatening military action while hinting at a potential invocation of Article 5.

That’s genuinely fucking insane.

My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

New: Trump admin officials tell Zeteo that Trump is “very interested” in secret plans drawn up last year to send US Special Forces into Mexico.

One official even says Trump recently asked for updates on preparations for a possible operation.

Officials tell Zeteo that Trump remains ‘very interested’ in the idea of sending US Special Forces into Mexico, as the president threatens Colombia and Cuba, too.

I forgot about this
During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.

Trump has captured and removed a sitting foreign leader. Nothing close to this has happened in something like 25 years.
Chris Murphy: "Clearly this is wildly illegal. This is a president who has been operating illegally since he was sworn in -- stealing from the American people, seizing spending power, now dragging America into a war overseas ... Donald Trump's entire foreign policy is corrupt."

-Marjorie Taylor Greene
