This is actually their M.O. with everything. Create a crisis, then claim victory for ending it or emergency powers to deal with it.

• Increase the national debt
• Throw millions off their health care with Medicaid cuts
• Cut taxes for billionaires
• Raise costs for the poorest Americans

Hot take:
Folks are threatened by Trans people because their work to become themselves reminds us all that we can be happier as our most authentic selves

Well, that's worrying.
Facial recognition in smart glasses to dox people? Yeah, a bunch of us warned shit like this was going to happen, and it's going to enable some really bad shit. We need to fundamentally reconsider what constitutes "public" and "private" in our society, and we need to have done it several years ago.
New from 404 Media: someone put facial recognition on Meta's smart glasses to instantly dox strangers. You look at them, sends face to a facial recognition tool. LLM infers name, sends to people site. Gets phone number, address. I've seen it in action www.404media.co/someone-put-...

It's really hard to make videos about all of the cool science coming out all of the time.

I really appreciate Trump trying to help me out with this problem by making it so no new science comes out ever.

AOC: I saw on Fox, Jeanine Pirro says that they found so many babies and two year olds and four year olds receiving social security. I got a notice for you Jeanine Pirro: those babies receive social security because their parents died. That’s not a waste. That’s humanity. That’s America.

Today I called a pharmacy on behalf of a trans friend who was being misgendered while picking up her script for estrogen. They made a note to do better.

It was a small act, micro allyship, but it left her feeling loved and me feeling buoyed. Helping helps. Kind daily acts are transformative.

So, I was obsessed with The White Lotus all season. But after the finale I'm feeling let down by the whole thing. I'd been worried since the big and problematic monologue. I kept hoping that the bits of transphobia were going somewhere affirming. But I went away feeling disappointed and bored?

These fucking ghouls are now going after LIBRARIANS.

They posted this super gross slideshow from the official, federal account.

The caption reads "the era of using your taxpayer dollars to fund DEI grants is OVER."

Just petulant, pissant behavior.
Which is basically all they can ever manage.

The Democrats are lucky to have a politician like @aoc.bsky.social in this moment.
AOC: What they like to call as radical, I believe is common sense.

I believe that when a person gets sick, they shouldn’t go bankrupt in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. Common sense

I believe that a minimum wage should cover the minimum cost to live. Common sense...

BREAKING: President Trump issued an executive order to begin dismantling the Department of Education.

This will severely hinder the federal government’s ability to meet its legal obligations laid out by Congress to protect students’ civil rights and empower them to achieve their future potential.

DOGE plans to fire 430 workers at the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service — which helps low-income and small business filers.

Meanwhile, its wider agency layoffs will make it even easier for the rich to get away with skirting what they owe.

See what DOGE is really about?

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

The Hoopla app appears to be complying-in-advance with a new Oklahoma law that seeks to ban all content that Oklahoma deems obscene.

Hoopla is based in Ohio but is used by many libraries in the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Authors: check your Hoopla listings. Looks like D2D has removed all romance books from Hoopla. D2D is based in Oklahoma and may be "obeying in advance" of SB593.

If the goal is to raise children with limited literacy this is the way to make that happen. Kids read and learn more when they read what they actually enjoy. This attitude will result in children reading far, far less than they would naturally
Whoever wrote this - especially if they are a librarian - really doesn't know anything about reading, children, or professional ethics. Or perhaps they just don't care.
