Been telling my students and parents exactly this point. Want to be a better reader? You have to read. What to be a better writer? You have to read. Analytical reading and writing is the most important skill we can teach and model. We are all teachers of reading.

Our school community based special education classes listened to THE SNOWBALL FIGHT by Beth Ferry w/art by Tom Lichtenfeld, celebrating the magic of a snow day. After listening, they made paper plate snowmen surrounded by paint dabber snowflakes. #kidlit #SchooLibrary

Chloe's been gone for less than 2 months. I canceled her pet insurance after she passed away. The insurance vendor just sent me an email suggesting I add another pet to my insurance plan. After that message, they're lucky I'm not canceling Bo's plan, too. Not the best marketing...

Cooking for lunches and dinners for the week is done! Made chili with cornbread topping, one of my favorites, and tried a new vegetarian crockpot recipe with chickpeas. That's still cooking and smells great.

Found some joy in a busy afternoon w/our #SchoolLibrary crochet club. Some 4th graders brought in bags of yarn to donate to the group & a bunch of kids told me they got yarn as a holiday gift. We hit an all-time participation high of 25 in 5th grade. That's 1/4 of our 5th grade students!

Today in 2nd grade we started an illustrator study of Juana Martinez-Neal with her excellent Fry Bread. One S told us all about fry bread at their house and how they sell it at powwows!

Then we explored the library’s collection of cookbooks with a recipe scavenger hunt.

It’s World Braille Day so during Makerspace Monday kids tried out using a slate & stylus to write their names in Braille. Lots of problem solving going on as they figured out how to use the tools & how to form & sequence letters. #SchoolLibrary #TLSky #EduSky
