John Carpenter’s THE THING takes place during the “first goddamn week of winter.” It also takes place in Antarctica, where winter begins in March. Just something to keep in mind when people start with the memes in a few weeks.

Judi Dench played a new M opposite Pierce Brosnan as a veteran Bond shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union in GOLDENEYE. Then she played a veteran M opposite Daniel Craig as a new Bond “after 9/11” (her words) in CASINO ROYALE. Somehow, we got through it.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. went so insanely hard, and delivered the goods in ways few directors could match against Friedkin in his prime. I still have the French TLADILA poster Friedkin signed for me hanging in my office. Happy 40th anniversary to one of my all-time favorite crime thrillers.

A semi-scripted, semi-improvised movie in which David Lynch interviews the actors who played the Palmer family in Twin Peaks and then they perform a seance which channels the characters to speak for themselves, the Charles de Lauzirika-directed Between Two Worlds is a wild exercise in anti-auteur.

Honk at the Tara Theatre! Thank you Reel Friends for screening Honk at @taraatlanta.bsky.social. I first saw Honk at the Buried Alive Film Festival in November last year. It was great seeing the film again and it was exciting to speak with @lauzirika.bsky.social at the mixer after the screenings!

This is simply magnificent. Send this brilliantly, emotionally edited Saga spanning piece to all TV Academy and Golden Globe members. (Spoilers for those not caught up on ANDOR.) Bravo, @swft-youtube.bsky.social! youtu.be/wMRxxm7OWWE

I don't know if there is a more appropriate goodbye to Loretta Swit, than her last scene in MASH in the series finale.

Loretta won two Emmy's for her role as Major Houlihan.

50 years ago today, my favorite kømedifilm of all-time opened (in the United Kingdom) ((in general release)) (((after a few other places.))) MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL takes absurdity to epic levels. And still so relevant!

45 years later, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is still basically tied with A NEW HOPE as my favorite star war. (Though it *has* gotten a little more crowded at the top lately.)

Almost two years ago, I got to meet the co-writer of the last two MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies, the great Erik Jendresen…and, like a total gentleman, he didn’t even mind that I wore my “Written by Tony Gilroy” shirt to the gathering. Bring on the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE finale. Bring on the ANDOR finale.

I need your help.

We’re raising funds for a last-minute chance to get to Martha’s Vineyard and film at the Jaws 50th anniversary event. The footage will be a key part of our documentary, about production designer Joe Alves.

A donation or a share — would mean a great deal.
