The story of how Dwayne McDuffie turned being jerked around writing the Justice League into a story about stories and then was fired by DC for telling stories.

We talk anima/animus, othering, group dynamics, systemic racism, weaponized woke lingo, and white people doing Anansi stories.
Anansi is Supposed to be Me
System Racism, the Justice League, the nature of stories, and how Dwayne McDuffie got fired.

The idea that there was a time or culture with no queers, no queerness, no homosexuality, no questioning gender is absurd, but an easy idea to accept the same way that over the course of about 12 years we got used to muscle-peak Arnold Schwarzenegger being a slightly fit normative American man.

Big bangs are a lie. There is Cleopatra 2525, beget by queerness, which begets queerness which begets Cleopatra 2525.

I am obsessed with this comic, and am completely unsure, even today, if I don't understand some references and savvy some puns or if those things don't mean nothing and I'm overreaching. Wild stuff. And, made me feel less weird.
It's Dave Cockrum's birthday and all the comics people are posting about so I feel like I should say thank you, Dave Cockrum, for designing the absolute best X-Men character.

Help me get some good books in the hands, minds and souls of those who deserve! From a queer look at post-9/11 America via the X-Men to a novel about fanfic, transvestigation, repression and mystery, there's something for everyone and you oughta get in on this!

I made an 18-page comic earlier this year and just put it up as pay-what-you-want on itch if anybody's interested in a cute breezy dose of queer, dark-fantasy, body-horror(ish) erotica : )

For context, when she met him he was planning to be a girl for the firs summer on his own and then and ended up wearing his little sisters' underwear on his head because they wanted to play superheroes. Ostensibly cishet & silly. But I think she likes him because eventually someday he's gonna crack.

13 Ghosts watching.

This is the only instance I can think of where you're expected to say your birthday wish instead of not say.

The remake's fanbase have had too much Star Wars. Not every character needs elaborate backstory and a movie about their lives before death is just vignettes of *people*.

Repost with an iconic fictional band.

How is there a Fire Bomber gif on here but no Lenny and the Squigtones?

I'm not always thinking about a DVD set I have which walks you into the theatre/parks you at the drive-in, gives you some crowd ambience, some ads, some trailers, a cartoon, and the feature (or, at least on one disc, the double), but I am often.

Even if the venue is poor CGI, that's homey as hell.

The political and aesthetic differences between Mamoru Oshii and Masamune Shirow really make me want to write something deep dive, but I'd have to loop in whoever made the live action Ghost in the Shell and I ain't gonna.

Betty Bates states her series as an attorney and by the end she's district attorney. This her on a slow day.

Watching Munsters, Go Home, as part of my cheer up. In Us Living I show love for the Munsters as just as goth & just as loving as the Addams, just with less money and a desperation to assimilate to middle class America or upper crust England, which they see on equal footing.

Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

This and Gotham Girls weren't appreciated enough in their own time. We can appreciate them now, though, because wow; outliers.
Joanca is the only trans woman in animated media I've personally seen that is overtly transgender and not in a transmisognistic caricature way, but rather a humanizing way.

from 40 years ago btw.

An important lesson of the 20th century was that if Rutger Hauer had a better idea for your movie he really did have a better idea and you should let him.

We never really learned that as strong as we should have, and now, until the time machine, it's too late.
