TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. went so insanely hard, and delivered the goods in ways few directors could match against Friedkin in his prime. I still have the French TLADILA poster Friedkin signed for me hanging in my office. Happy 40th anniversary to one of my all-time favorite crime thrillers.

Almost two years ago, I got to meet the co-writer of the last two MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies, the great Erik Jendresen…and, like a total gentleman, he didn’t even mind that I wore my “Written by Tony Gilroy” shirt to the gathering. Bring on the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE finale. Bring on the ANDOR finale.

Sad news to wake up to, but my first thought about the legendary Gene Hackman is simply “thank you” for such an extraordinary career and body of work. Whether in comedies, dramas or comic book fantasies, the pure power and precision of this man’s ferocious acting talent will always astound me.

Not sure I’d call CRAVE “hard to find,” especially if you’re looking for RSJr in a body stocking!

In honor of John Williams’ 93rd birthday today, I think it’s worth noting that in 1993, he “only” had two film scores released — both released within mere months of each other, both incredibly different from one another, and both unforgettable, masterful entries in a legendary life’s work.

Remember the good old days when a film’s making-of documentary was so integral to the process that the likes of David Lynch appeared in a two page ad to announce which camera was going to be used strictly for the behind-the-scenes of DUNE?

I made this graphic in 2017. Seems far more appropriate now.

Some thoughts about the passing and the legacy of a true original. Thank you for visiting our world, David Lynch, and for leaving such beautiful art behind.

Devastated to hear about the passing of David Lynch. What a beautiful, amazing life and career. Might have more to add later.

In going through pics I took during my first visit to the Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta nine years ago, I found one that particularly moved me today: A framed photo of young Lt. James Earl Carter dedicated to his dear Rosalynn.Thank you for being an exceptional human being, Jimmy Carter.

Cleaning up old files on my computer and found this gem that’s still as relevant, and perhaps even more so, today. (Source unknown.)
