This is a) utterly terrifying and b) vital. Don’t turn away. The crisis is fixable because it is, ultimately, political. We know the chemistry. We decline the action necessary.

It’s taken far too long, but our politicians are beginning to realise how disgusted we are by their complicity with Israel.

They’re not moving on this for ethical reasons, it’s recognition that they’ve lost the public.

Keep pushing.

Nuclear waste is a problem for many generations to come. We're talking about centuries. Are we sure humans can handle them, without interruption for, say, 300 years?
Those claiming nuclear energy is ecological will always forget the issue of nuclear waste, a very long lasting hot potato.
USA has 86,000 tons of nuclear fuel waste, growing by ~2,000 tons per year.

No permanent storage solution.

US has not collected Nuclear Waste Fund fees since 2014.

DOE estimates current unfunded liabilities for waste storage of around US$50.2 billion.

Let's not follow this madness.

IAC I don’t see any significant trend to support assertions that "the waves/impact is getting lower", or "it’s just another season virus now". The pattern is actually waves of random intensity and timing – all driven by the arrival of new variants.

🧊🌊 Antarctic Ice Sheet tipping point?

West Antarctica likely already past a collapse threshold – needing <0.25 °C more deep ocean warming to tip irreversibly.

4 m of sea-level rise could be locked in, even with no further warming.

I liked this for Jane's comment, but the article itself is fantastic.

"How much natural gas would it take to persuade the French to let some company screw around with the 20,000-year-old paintings in the Lascaux Cave? What about the Poms letting miners have a go at Stonehenge?"

The Labor party “is a tactical fatalist, limbering up to be the coal and gas supply pit for a world it sees as inevitably on the verge of burning its inhabitants to char.”
We don't have good words to describe governments and companies that accept 'climate science', but will knowingly burn the world for short term gain.

Australia's government is openly planning to supply the fuel for the world's self destruction. I wrote about it, for @crikey.com.au -->>
Forget climate denial, Labor's tactical fatalism will burn us all
The climate movement is ill-equipped to deal with a threat that looks like this. Any fantasy we had of a global moral pact of good intentions is dead.
