Cocaine Mitch has the most spine of any Republican senator (not that that's saying a whole lot). Can't make it up.

Or maybe people have realised that income and wealth inequality are both at historic levels? Or that the housing crisis is hitting virtually everywhere? Or that inflation has damaged wage ratios? Or that we continue to measure economic success by measures that don’t give a shit about regular people?

So this is how it works: Trump gets to play the “great dealmaker,” claiming he secured Fogel’s release for nothing—only for the truth to come out the next day. Classic authoritarian tactics. Classic Trump.

The fundamental flaw with the Democratic Party is that they do not recognize themselves as political leaders who drive and shape public opinion, but as especially powerful bureaucrats. It’s probably related to how many of them come urban machines where getting elected is basically getting promoted

Have we ever seen a more tame and submissive Democratic Party? I mean it’s like they have no energy, no momentum, no leadership. It’s a complete joke.

Trump and his lawyers embrace the logic of dictatorship
And they're not even trying to hide it at this point.

At least $12 *trillion* from global oligarchs is hidden offshore in secret tax havens worldwide. And it is headquartered right here in the USA.

Instead of cutting lifesaving programs like the VA, Medicaid, and food stamps, we should be cracking down on tax havens for the ultra-rich.

Re the ridiculous viral MAGA ‘USAID is funding Politico’ story:

1) a reminder of the power of the disinformation complex, enabled by Musk
2) a reminder to ‘neutral’ outlets like Politico that no matter how much ‘both sides’ journalism and knee-bending they offer, MAGA will always hate/attack them.

This is a great piece but, sorry, as much as I loathe Musk and his apartheid South African background, and hypocrisy over immigration, he’s not a ‘foreign billionaire.’ He’s a US citizen. Let’s not fall into the trap of demonizing naturalized Americans as foreign if they’re people we don’t like.

To America’s 2.3 million federal employees:

Don’t accept a buyout.

Neither Musk nor even Trump has the legal authority to make such an offer.

And even if they did, would you trust them to follow through on it?

Yeah my concern is less about whether Trump and Musk Will escape this unscathed (lol) and more about whether the rest of us will
just saying: it's possible that "I'm gonna dramatically constrict my state capacity while plotting dramatic imperial expansion, and expanding my set of internal enemies while alienating most of my foreign allies" is the beginning of a world-historical masterstroke. but also possible that it isn't
