I endorse this message.
my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"

All of the times I’ve wondered what Putin had on Trump, and now we find out Jeffrey Epstein was talking to Putin’s ambassador about Trump.
Jeffrey Epstein claimed he gave Russians insight into Trump
Newly released emails show the late convicted sex offender’s extensive network of foreign contacts, whom he corresponded with about Trump’s policy decisions.

Heat pumps are expensive. What if billionaires bought them for everyone?

It would cost more than $1 trillion, but the savings from lower bills and cleaner air would be just as high.

Heat pumps are expensive. What if billionaires bought them for everyone?
Rewiring America ran the numbers and found that a big investment in heat pumps would end up paying for itself.

Bingo! We are hearing that in lot other states too with binding GHG commitments made well before Biden & IRA.
Disappointing but expected. Gov Hochul has done her best to undermine much of New York’s leadership on climate policy.

Notably she argues that state targets are unachievable because IRA tax credits are gone. But those didn’t exist when the law was passed in 2019…

New York will fight ruling requiring state to speed up climate regs

One of the key barriers to electrification is the ratio of electricity to gas prices.

The tax rate on electricity used in industry is much higher in most European countries than the tax rate on fossil gas.

New York's South Fork Wind, America's first large offshore wind project, is generating electricity as at the same rate as New York's natural gas generators.

How's that for reliable power? (via @justingerdes.bsky.social)

Trump claims offshore wind is worthless. This project proves the opposite is true.
South Fork Wind, the U.S.’ first commercial-scale offshore wind farm, is demonstrating the folly of the Trump’s administration’s misguided war on offshore wind.

‘It’s Going to Hurt Us’: Trump Puts 15,000 Offshore Wind Jobs at Risk With Halt Orders
Cesar Lima never gave much thought to the politics of offshore wind. Most days, the ironworker focused on his shift 15 miles out at sea, climbing turbines and watching dolphins gliding past his vessel off the coast of Rhode Island.

Then Russia will have to accept the war has an additional real cost per day
