This has been my experience as well.

We should use social media that doesn’t make us feel terrible and anxious. This is the one I’ve found for this moment. That might change down the line, but right now this is the best I’ve found.
Bluesky is a social media platform and presumably poisoning all of our brains like any other.

But every time something bad happens in the world the Skyline is suddenly filled with fun, interesting people saying "I guess I'm gonna post here more, wow, it's so not-rancid" and I appreciate that

Cumin is an annual plant of the parsley family.

Dried fruits of the cumin plant, which look more like seeds, are used as a spice in many different cuisines.

If it helps, the difference between an herb and a spice has to do with which part of the plant is used. 🧵⬇️

IT SHOULD BE HARDER TO GAMBLE
Very annoyed at the people who decided to open the floodgates to online sports betting, it is absolutely a scourge. Great piece from Gabrielle Gurley on people spending hours a day on these predatory apps.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the episodes are only ~30 minutes long.

a good way of putting it because a nice dinner with the whole family is a thing that Musk's money can never buy him.
Last year, @andrewperez.bsky.social crunched the numbers and to give people an idea of what that humongous sum was worth to him, the amount of cash Elon threw down for the 2024 election is the financial equivalent for an average family of the amount spent on a nice but not extravagant dinner…

As someone who's been volunteering as a poll worker in various states/counties for over a decade, it's SO informative and affirming.

Democracy takes work! Doing the work feels good! The training is usually very thorough!
I just generally think the antidote to dooming and feelings of helplessness is getting involved in any way. It can be as a poll worker, doing ICE watch, running for local office, helping with mutual aid, whatever.

You can get so much accomplished in your town or city if you just get involved.
anyway i know how many of you hate that i’m so vocal about this and think it makes me a naive shitlib or whatever. but again, i think the best thing you could do for yourself here is to get involved in election administration where you live.

Even though it didn’t have the outcome I wanted, I spent Election Day 2024 fairly buoyant because I was a poll worker helping people register and cast their ballots.

I was definitely happier than my friends who spent the day refreshing their feeds.
