Online Now: The nucleolar granular component mediates genome-nucleolus interactions and establishes their repressive chromatin states Online now:
The nucleolar granular component mediates genome-nucleolus interactions and establishes their repressive chromatin states
Gupta et al. showed that NPM1, a nucleolar granular component factor, mediates NAD association with the nucleolus. NPM1 binds NADs and recruits histone methyltransferase G9a to establish H3K9me2 repressive chromatin, revealing that the nucleolus functions not only as a scaffold for NADs but also actively contributes to their chromatin repression.
