I've discovered why the auction made me sad. These gorgeous creations (the long black Ed coat dress...unnggg) are just another commodity in the eyes of capitalist monsters. Another resource to hoard. Should they be in a museum? Mostly not. But put a little respect on it.
Those costumes — created by Christine Wada, Gypsy Taylor and their respective teams — are legitimately works of art.
I’d feel differently if they were cut in on the auction, but that’s not the case.
I’m glad these things still exist, just be clear where your money’s going.
