Agreed. ESP after Germany reduced their contingent. But I do maintain Denmark didn’t set this up as a potluck street party and we had to wait to be asked ( you always need a plan to escalate)

We've had a relationship with China at least from Bethune days. missionaries, PMPET's outreach.
For years (decades?) Canadians went to China to teach. Most I've talked to thought it was a great experience. Then for years (decades?) Chinese students came here to go to uni.
