My big bike is the size of a small car. The red background of my selfie is not a political statement; I took it at a Target. My biking is for my personal mental and physical health; don't get bent out of shape over it.
Infuriatingly rude!
This photo of leaves in the NE 7th Avenue bike lane sent to me just now by a reader is bonkers. It's a perfect illustration of why the common practice of workers blowing leaves from sidewalks (and yards) into bike lanes is totally uncool and unsafe.

No easy solution to this issue!

Have a look at who was out on the Springwater Corridor path on a mild and dry fall day. What do you notice about: who's riding, what they're riding, how they're riding it, and what they're wearing while doing so?

This unimaginable tragedy happened at N Interstate and N Lombard — which remains one of Portland's most inhumane and stressful intersections.
My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.

He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

At several locations across the city where bike bus routes cross busy intersections, the Portland Bureau of Transportation has programmed traffic signals with a custom, bike bus-friendly timing plan that is activated by a longer push of the beg button.

Slow biking? Oh, yeah. Sounds like something @sarahgilbert.bsky.social said at Ignite Portland years ago.

No.

People who think this is insignificant are allowing a Trojan Horse to enter their domain.

History shows that when people have said things like "States rights" which sound innocuous, they meant 'segregation'. This is the same.

More importantly, trans inclusion in all aspects of life is a must.
I agree that he shouldn't have spoken with Charlie Kirk. However, it's not fair to suggest he agreed that trans women are the problem with everything. He was speaking specifically about inclusion in competitive, physical sports.

And this is why I explain to every student I ever have that if you can't understand the role of anti-Blackness in the U.S. you basically can't understand anything else
So, to be clear:

*Federal employment, which built much of the Black middle class—attacked & slashed

*Cities with Black mayors—targeted

*Black neighborhoods/communities—invaded

*Affirmative action @ colleges—eliminated

*Black history—demonized, erased, & written over

They
are
re-
segregating.

If you want TX Democrats' efforts & sacrifices to have a bigger impact:

Blue states:
Call your governor and state reps; pressure them to redistrict (like CA)

Red states:
BE LOUD in your opposition, nationally & locally - make these efforts politically costly.

@bikeportland.org Is this where we send you tips now? PBOT is installing the median island today as they return the crosswalk from the parking lot to the main entrance. SE 26th between Powell and Franklin open to buses only while they work.

When a judge stops the president from doing something illegal, that’s not a “threat to democracy,” that’s a check on the president’s power. That's the whole damn point.
