It's true! My dad was similar and I learned sheetrocking, flooring, basic repair concepts, etc.
So far the only house project that has defeated me is retiling my tub surround. It's from the 40s and poorly done initially, requires replacing lead piping and removing ancient mastic. No thanks!

A lot of this stuff is *so much easier* than you could possibly imagine. It’s just that no one ever showed you how. I’ve replaced faucets in sinks and mounted all kinds of stuff and even took apart my kitchen aid mixer. Once you watch a few YouTube videos you’re like “wait this is simple actually.”
Today I’m replacing all the mechanisms inside my toilet and every time I do stuff like this I thank the universe I have a dad that never treated me “like a girl” but rather just like a person and taught me not to be afraid to take on tasks that would be considered traditionally male.

My dad has a huge impact on my media interests but when was maybe 7 he introduced me to Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Monty Python and it set the tone for me in a very specific way.

My partner showed me Gundam 8th MS Team and in the watching I learned they have never seen Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Gundam was amazing and since I haven't seen Eva since I was in my mid 20s, I wasn't sure how applicable it was, only that it was Very Applicable.
