I see people asking "I have UI skills, how do I get better at UX?" My answer is: learn content design.
You can't hide behind whizbang styling when your medium is a sentence with hyperlinks to other sentences. Starting with the content also breaks you out of seeing work as a screen to be "laid out".

I saw this post on LI where a designer recommends not running comparative research bc the result is muddy where users will prefer some things from both versions. This is due to poor design of the proof - he didn’t narrow the thing he wants to test. Unfortunately this how a lot of design teams think.

Despite most people harping on talking to the customer and incorporating research, I think a lot of people have trouble when they run research and their bet fails. When your whole focus is being right and shipping, you don’t consider that learning is a win.

The job market sucks and sending out resumes doesn't do shit. One of my friends got laid off recently and asked me how I was able to find a job when I was looking.
