Just how morally, ethically, intellectually bankrupt do you have to be to argue that 15-year-olds can sell sex but can’t affirm gender

Nuzzi's fawning coverage of the sociopathic conspiracy crank she was having an affair with aided his rise to political power, which he is using to perpetrate the worst intentional public health catastrophe of our unnecessarily shortened lifetimes, and THAT is the STORY.

“We seethe over the betrayal by a supposedly democratic society that quickly averts its collective eyes and allows predators, mostly men, to get away with it and reinvent themselves right in front of our eyes as we’re punished if we speak out about our basic rights to survival and safety.”
"Be clear: I blame the protectors of the predators just as much as the rapists themselves because without them, this cycle might’ve ended long ago with sexual abusers, especially those ensconced in politics and media, rooted out," MFP Founding Editor Donna Ladd wrote in August. "Maybe."
The Epstein Saga Is Not a Game. It’s About Protecting Women.
Donna Ladd reflects on her own story amid the still-unfolding Jeffrey Epstein saga of rape, retribution and the protection of sexual predators.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

The thing is this projection of adult sexuality onto young teens is already pervasive in our society in the form of purity culture.

It’s just that purity culture frames it in a defensive posture, with that sexuality as something that must be resisted and denied.

Both logics enable exploitation.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

'Matt Gaetz Raped A Homeless Teenager' is what you mean.

A teenager with a homeless parent? What? The fuck? Did she have a home and not allow her parent to live in it? Ended up having sex with? What? Yeah clearly you guys been caping for pedos long enough and you understand the assignment here
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Has Mr. Respect, Ezra Klein, ever written a column on how Republicans are so disrespectful of Democrats that they refuse to call the party by its real name and instead use a McCarthyite slur?

Really unnerving point from Nicole Hemmer, historian of the right: Trump's Epstein fiasco could drive MAGA to push him to go even fuller authoritarian, because the whole project is now in such serious doubt. She's so good on MAGA's future.

And if we had elected competent women instead 🤦🏻‍♀️
It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

I don't know Danielle but stumbled on this thread and am thrilled someone is investigating this phenomenon in a rigorous way. The US south still feels the impact of these white flight schools -- this kind of research can help us make sense of that.
👋 I'm Danielle, and I'm on the #econjobmarket this year!

Let's start with a student describing her segregated school:

"The school felt temporary. Built like a warehouse with aluminum siding . . . I had a slipshod education"

The twist? The student is white, and her school is private.
