Only a dozen states have created telecom fees to fund the expanding need for 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline services. Missouri is not among them; the program's paid for out of general funds (i.e. not guaranteed). But there's “strong likelihood” a fee will be approved, providing long-term support.
Since its launch in 2022, the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline has responded to nearly 13 million calls. But many states have been slow to spend their own dollars on the program.

BREAKING: Platform Ventures, the development company that owns a south Kansas City warehouse that federal agents toured last month to consider for an immigrant detention center, announced today that it is not moving forward with the sale.
