The law will require Kansas to send letters informing people that they have to surrender their state documents for replacement--at their own cost.

So useful. Only wish this guide were available to CPS in 2023.

We see how public entities--schools, police--are pressured to buy tech to enhance safety. And purchases are being made largely on faith. When promises are not able to be verified, the public's sold a dangerous false sense of security.

Your daily bananas Trump corruption story:

It's about a bridge connecting Michigan to Canada that's due to open, until the billionaire owner of the existing clogged bridge called Trump and asked him to keep the new bridge closed.

Nuclear grade corruption. All out in the open.

Only a dozen states have created telecom fees to fund the expanding need for 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline services. Missouri is not among them; the program's paid for out of general funds (i.e. not guaranteed). But there's “strong likelihood” a fee will be approved, providing long-term support.

BREAKING: Platform Ventures, the development company that owns a south Kansas City warehouse that federal agents toured last month to consider for an immigrant detention center, announced today that it is not moving forward with the sale.
Kansas City developers halt sale of warehouse for ICE detention center as public pressure mounts
Federal officials first toured the building in January, sparking speculation over whether the owners had sold the building to the U.S. government. Media reports suggested the sale was part of a push to use warehouses across the country as immigration detention centers.

Marty Baron's Post thrived because it took meaningful steps away from false balance, toward a defensible north star. As long as media execs insist financial pressures require wooing back right-wing audiences, why help them build a false sense that this is possible? www.offmessage.net/p/a-requiem-...

CNN: "Another photograph - these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked & read by the DOJ"

one thing that comes across in these clips is that bondi is totally out of her depth. just an absolute lightweight. barely sentient.
holy shit -- Bondi's new tactic is refusing to answer Democratic questions, then using time during the next Republican questioner to smear the previous Democratic member and accuse them of being complicit in violence crimes

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

Volunteers with @momsdemandaction.org--from mid-MO and St. Louis--are back in the Capitol this afternoon, to testify against another dangerous gun bill, SB 908.
This bill would expand our state's already disastrous preemption law, and tie the hands of local governments.
