According to Rep. Bob Onder's online Government Shutdown Resource Guide, air travel is normal. Surely the people in his mid-Missouri office have heard the news?? Seems unlikely that as a pilot he wouldn't know that airports in his district aren't working: www.kbia.org/missouri-new...

Missouri @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers attended Rep. Kathy Steinhoff's campaign kickoff. When she launched her 1st #moleg campaign gun violence was 1 of 2 issues she ran on. With this issue MUCH discussed in Columbia now I'm glad to know she'll continue the work on commonsense gun safety policy

The presentation of the legislative priorities by staff begin and are immediately amended by Mayor Buffaloe to include a measure that she identified as a concern from CPD: adding legislation that would require reporting of firearms stolen from vehicles.

The agenda includes gun safety policy in a few points. First, Council will vote on the list of priorities to direct our city's lobbyists in Jeff City. The 2026 legislative priorities include: “Amending the State law to match Federal law regarding the possession of handguns by minors.”

Missouri @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers are in attendance tonight for Columbia City Council's meeting because gun safety policy is on the agenda. 🧵

Early in the meeting, CPD Chief Jill Schlude was given time to share a public safety report.

Our trainer shared some staggering facts about risks that all Missourians should know. Moms tabled (alongside folks from the VA) to provide gun locks plus more info specifically for vets.
Grateful to our presenter, Whitney Shumway, for sharing the training and to all who came out for this workshop!

Columbia @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers marked national suicide prevention awareness month with an extremely powerful workshop last night—Conversations for Suicide Safer Homes. We learned how to directly ask about suicide, risk factors, and many effective ways to reduce access to lethal means.

Columbia, MO @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers hosted a fun, informative resource table under the best shady tree at Boone County Ready Festival yesterday! We talked with huge numbers of families about the work to end gun violence, and we handed out secure storage info and many gun locks. #beSMART

Progress!🧵 At today's Columbia Public Schools Board work session, secure firearm storage was on the agenda. So pleased to be there to see board members agree to take action on a district secure storage policy! 2 projects are forming that address the ways secure storage will keep our kids safer:

I know that these outcomes were predetermined, starting when MAGA #moleg leadership huddled around the conference call from Donald Trump and promised to make him happy. Regardless of what actual Missourians want.
These actions--cheating Missourians--are shameful. Don't call yourselves patriots. 3/3

“We are Midwest nice until you mess with our maps.”

At the Missouri Capitol early for a huge press conference organized by #moleg Democrats to address the unconstitutional efforts to throw away our Congressional maps.

Although our conversations were often brief, the near-total majority of people--gun owners or not--agreed that our curious children deserve to be kept safe from guns. Securing firearms is one of the best ways to keep our schools and communities safe from gun violence. 2/2

CoMo we have a candidate in the Aug. 5 special election—Vera Elwood for City Council—who’s committed to governing with gun safety in mind. She has @momsdemand.bsky.social's Gun Sense Candidate Distinction!
Grateful to Vera; Columbia deserves leaders committed to proven policies to end gun violence.

Volunteered for the Boone County Democrats' last shift at the Boone County Fair last night. Registered a few voters, talked with sweet future voters, and with folks who’re ready to get involved and volunteer. We sold buttons too (the Dump Your Republican Boyfriend pin in particular won new fans).

We wore our red shirts while running errands after the parade and were stopped by several more CoMo people who wanted info (and got info plus a Moms Demand bracelet). Or to tell us to #keepgoing. Everyone can text READY to 644-33 to get on the @momsdemand.bsky.social list and get off the sidelines.

We met up with many community partners—including Boone County Community Against Violence.
Grateful to catch up with D’Markus Thomas-Brown director of the Office of Violence Prevention. And to meet Vera Elwood—candidate in Ward 2, August 5 election—to talk about the #GunSenseCandidate distinction.

Missouri @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers were so glad to be part of Columbia’s fun Juneteenth Parade this weekend. We shared loads of candy and info about how to join the movement to end gun violence with 100s of our neighbors. #moleg

We #wearorange today, headed to the Bowen family reunion. 🍊

I wear orange in solidarity with the many survivors and victims of gun violence in our Missouri community. And because I know way too many families who’ve been devastated because loved ones were taken by firearm suicide.

Nurrenbern cites recent legislative efforts to keep children safe: When we talk about preventing deaths, doing whatever we can to keep families safe, #Moleg was able to enact a distracted driving law--with bipartisan support.

Certainly causes of death among Missouri children all deserve attention.

People need to hear, loud and clear, that firearms are the leading cause of death among children in Missouri for the past three years in a row, says Sen. Lewis. This amendment is opening up the conversation.

Here's current CDC data on Missouri (and the nation):
