Chicago “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is”
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

In 2009, this was the mask of a UK SAS character in “Call of Duty.” By 2015 it was de rigeur among Iraqi government commandos and Shiite militiamen. In 2018, in “Sicario 2,” it was what CIA surrogate characters wore to disguise themselves as cartel gunmen.

Now US law enforcement wears it.

Hey Chuck, here’s a hint: nobody wants to reform ICE except for well paid consultants and their jagoff clients.
Abolish ICE. Abolish DHS.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

As a related aside, Palantir’s first product was Gotham, which Thiel worked with the CIA to develop. It officially launched in 2008 and aggregates/analyzes data sets, including social media.

Gotham is used as a counterterrorism tool but is also used to monitor political activism/dissent generally.

This is great, “Democracy isn’t simply being defended. It’s being reorganized…” it used to annoy me when foreigners would complain about us not doing anything. Why aren’t you doing anything they’d scream - why? Because we are very comfortable, or rather we were very comfortable.
I’ve been noodling this piece over for a while. It ties together a few threads that i think ought to be tied together.

This is one of the most important cases that galvanized Black people in the late 40s through the 1950s. Almost every major Black leader had a comment about it. It is also one of the most successful defense committees that was organized in the 20th century. Almost no one knows about it today.
On this day in 1948, an all-white jury sentenced a Black woman and two of her teenage sons to death for killing an armed white man in self-defense.
