2026 is the year of substantive editing. everyone should spend more time learning how to edit and appreciating good editors who can look at your whole piece and tell you what's working and what isn't, what's strong or weak. the world needs more editors who care about great stories

Survived
I don't mean this in a glib way -- 2025 has been a year of stress and trauma and endless disruption.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

With the end of the year looming, and a lot of healthcare in flux, we're hoping more trans folks become aware of this. Catholic Church-run health systems now have a total trans care ban, and that includes doctor's offices, urgent cares and specialists you may not even know are part of their networks

Often, the result is the same: one lead title and every other book left to flounder. Queer, trans, and racialized authors getting 1 contract, then struggling to sell a second book because their first didn't net numbers. Earning out your advance isn't enough. The industry demands huge returns.
