Librarian at a mid-size public library in SoCal. MLS/JD. I've lived in seven different countries and have a dog named Scout who is super cute. Happiest hiking or gardening or reading or drinking tea... or, even better, combining any/all.

When Tom Holland appears on my TL, I'm contractually obligated to share this joy
It's been 8 years since the iconic moment Tom Holland lip-synced "Umbrella" by Rihanna for Zendaya. 🎥

Thinking a lot about how the set-up of Deal with the Devil involved a bunch of librarians & archivists in the late 2030s going rogue & creating secret backups of as much of the library of congress as they could and hiding them with books that were being purged, anyway hahaha off by a decade I guess

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

Just a picture of Scout after his last grooming to inspire me to make an appointment- he looks so clean and fluffy, and I really need to get him back to the groomer soon! Right now he's definitely in need of a good wash. 🦋

I’ve decided to leave Scientific American after an exciting 4.5 years as editor in chief. I’m going to take some time to think about what comes next (and go birdwatching), but for now I’d like to share a very small sample of the work I’ve been so proud to support (thread)

@joshuajfriedman.com Can I get your help getting out the word that it's time to "cure" ballots? We're already hearing about rejected votes. Go to www.voteamerica.org/ballot-curing/ to find out how to check your ballot.
Ballots are often rejected because of signature issues. You only have a few days!

This is what we mean when we say NYers are actually some of the friendliest people you can meet if you're in trouble. Her bag ripped. Folks are getting her a new bag. Other folks are picking up after her. Other folks are holding the train from leaving. This is a quintessential NY moment.

There have been a ton of headlines over the last few days about JD Vance promising that Trump won’t support national abortion ban.

But what reporters haven’t picked up on is that Vance used the word ‘ban’ in a very particular way to lie in plain sight.

Assuming Harris/Walz win, we need to have five conversations in America:

1) how the rich/celebrities/techbros are not deities
2) how the major media is beyond broken
3) how traumatized we are
4) how millions of Americans are cool with ushering in fascism
5) how MAGAns scare people into silence
When Tim Walz's kids gave him bunny ears and I wanted to cry at how normal it was.

We are all so deeply traumatized
