Legislators Must Save Washington's Talking Book and Braille Library
Just $3 million will help preserve this critical resource after last year's devastating state budget cuts.

This lyric hit me hard today:

Walked out this morning,
Don't believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways, looking for a home

We’re all sending out SOS messages and there’s nobody to answer because we all need help.

What are we are supposed to do when the checks and balances of our government are sitting unused. Without them, the ineffective Democratic Party and the fascist Republicans are on the same side, the side of active harm against the nation and its people. How do we fight this before it is too late?

The first night of Unrivaled was amazing! These players deserve more than the WNBA is offering.

Today’s “bad photo through the window” visitor for #NationalBirdDay. The flickers have finally figured out good positioning on the suet cage so that they can stab down like they want to.

Also, my husband is accusing me of reverting all of the local birds to carnivores.

This literally changes day to day. There are very few Ghibli films that are not my favorites. Today I’ll pick Whisper of the Heart.
In honor of Hayao Miyazaki's birthday, what's your favorite Studio Ghibli film? Doesn't have to be the one you think is "the best," just the one that nestled in your heart. Mine is Howl's Moving Castle.

I guess I really don’t watch many Wizards games because I just found out that there are two Champagnies. I only knew about the one on the Spurs.

I just used a Karen voice I didn’t know I had when I left a voicemail for @repkimschrier.bsky.social. I have had it up to HERE with this fucking administration and the do-nothing Congress. Impeachment now.

I frequently reread entire series when a new book comes out (unless the author is a one-book-a-year-type superhero and the book is still vaguely in my brain). I would miss this experience for some of the series but for others I would love to have a “previously, in this series” couple of pages.
setting an intention for SFF publishers in 2026 that they will put a "previously on" page at the front of the book when they are publishing sequels

I’ve decided to be selfish in 2026.

I will selfishly take care of myself so that I have many more years left to fight,

Selfishly donate to support orgs that keep alive the wonderful variety of people I love to see around me,

Selfishly buy art that takes me to lives and places I’ve never been.

In 2026 we have a choice: we can choose to be surprised by art, to be humbled by how difficult and insane and divine to create something new; or we can choose what we already know, the dull comfort of algorithms and AI prompts and well-trod paths, living shadow lives, anesthetized souls in Hades

My final finished book of 2025 and number 100 for the year. I solved both mysteries in this one so I’m pretty sure that @martinedwardsbooks.bsky.social has to give me a prize or a job or something now. Or maybe the reading of a good book is its own prize?
