My inability to use my $2,000 in FSA set-asides for my medications and the fact that I’m not getting paid even half salary anymore means I’m now overdrawn and falling into a deeper hole by the hour.

I hate asking for help, but I’d appreciate anything that comes into my tip jar. Thank you. 🙏

An hour later and I think I can tell you all how much I loved Frankenstein without starting to cry again. I have loved this book since I first read it at 12 years old. @realgdt.bsky.social kept everything I loved about it and added something that mended 38 years of heartache. Absolutely beautiful.

Referring the admin’s emergency petition to the whole court would have slowed down getting the payments out. We expect a First Circuit decision within the next day, day and a half. Monday a.m. tops. Stay tuned.
#BREAKING: Justice Jackson has issued an "administrative" stay, temporarily pausing a district court order that would've required the USDA to continue using contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits.

The stay expires 48 hours after the First Circuit rules on USDA's request for a stay pending appeal.

What a great statement. If only all politics were just about the details of execution and not the fundamentals.
Claudia Balducci has conceded the King County Executive race to Girmay Zahilay after today's results. However, Balducci will remain on the King County Council and Sound Transit Board of Directors.

Same in Seattle. The Times is sane most of the time and then the editorial board gets really weird around any election. I just started ignoring that section altogether.

Halloween was my last day at Crosscut/Cascade PBS, a month after my team was laid off. What do we lose when we lose a newsroom? Even before I was an editor there, Crosscut amplified abortion access and reproductive health policy coverage while other newsrooms waited for Dobbs to force the issue.

All I want from my government is for them to make sure each citizen has food, shelter, education, and healthcare, and that each citizen is safe from harassment and harm. I also want this for all of the non-citizens in my country.
