Lives and money: The dangerous business of health privatisation
Last week, ACT leader David Seymour suggested that people might want to take out their $6000 ‘share’ of per capita health spend from the public pool, and use it to buy private health insurance.Well. Y...

I wonder what they think about this cheap move that disrespects our community—when it risks those markets questioning if NZ meat is actually "halal" or just "friendly." Thereby, potentially harming an important market... 2/7 👇
Seymour defends non-halal certified school lunches, saying certification expense ‘not justified’
ACT leader hits back saying: "Halal lunches are prepared separately, with no pork, and Halal certified chicken and beef. However, to go to fully Halal certified would require the massive expense.

Chlöe Swarbrick bought three school lunches into Question Time and challenged the leaders of the coalition parties to eat one each.🤣
It was brilliant.

I love that Debbie Ngarewa-Packer is now asking the PM questions that she obviously expects him not to answer, and is just using it as an opportunity to highlight the PM's blantant hypocrisy and lies.✊

MPs are approached by many individuals asking them to champion their cause. There is no obligation to do. If considering doing so, some diligence is required. There seems no other conclusion - except sheer naivety - than Seymour was attempting to influence a Police murder investigation

Thinking of Tim Jago's victims. It's very VERY brave to go through reporting a crime against a powerful person and even more brave to endure a jury trial. Thank you, you brave young men. I hope you have all the help and support you need to heal. May he rot.

The issue here is that outside of the judgment of expertise and qualifications, the supporters will bluster and reckons and mislead the public. I've seen this movie before, the TPB is a potential Brexit or Trump. The facts don't matter, these people go red meat on feelings and outrage.
What was remarkable about today’s TPB submissions was the contrast between the highly qualified opponents and their steady stream of facts, versus the amateurish bluster and reckons of the bill’s supporters

Fully agree with @vomalley.bsky.social that the disinformation invited and fostered by the TPB will linger long after the Bill has been dumped. That’s one reason I am advocating for a sustained programme of public education on Te Tiriti and our national history

No health alerts and the famed MMWRs; no updates to key websites or social media posts.

And no indication how long the pause will last.
