~The Tesla Fan's Lament~

“First he claimed to be a founder,
And I did not care – because I liked EVs.

Then he defrauded California,
And I did not care – because I liked EVs.

Then he sabotaged high speed rail, sold cars knowing their batteries’ design flaw could cause fires, gamed range ... /1

Flew to Portland.

“I’d like an EV”
‘Which one?’
“Anything but a Tesla”
‘We get that all the time’
Lists off a half dozen better choices.

Happily visit Portland in a much better EV :).

All that’s left for the NazEV is a rapidly diminish cohort of rubes.

Big thank-you to Keri Adams, Jumy Ogunsola and the @ctvyourmorning.bsky.social team for inviting to me talk about the speedbump in Canada's EV sales yesterday. 🙏
ZEVs went from roughly 1/7 new car sales in 2024 to 1/11 this year. /1 #canpoli #ev

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

@keubiko.bsky.social BYD is super vertically integrated, but reportedly pays suppliers after 270 days. (Longer payment cycles are apparently the norm there.) This suggests they fund growth with working capital, right?
And if revenue stalls too long, things get dicey right?

Bill Gates:
The Michael Jordan of software monopolists 🎩
And the Michael Jordan-of-baseball of climate commentary 🧢 ⚾️
Bill Gates hasn’t made sense on Climate since he teamed up with Bjorn Lomberg in 2009. This is just a restating of Bjorn’s book from this year about how we have a finite amount of money and we shouldn’t use it for climate. What they get wrong is that climate solutions are now fully profitable.
Bill Gates has a new memo out calling for a “strategic pivot” on climate change, downplaying “doomsday” talk to focus on filling enormous post-USAID budget gaps in global health and vaccine funding. I got an early glimpse of his thinking last week:

Inception — but instead of realizing you’re in a dream because details are a little “off”, it’s because the AI video isn’t quite right.
I don’t know why I can’t stop watching this. It’s awful and somebody being impressed by it and believing it will supplant sitcoms is extremely dumb, but it’s also transfixing with just *how* wrong it is.
AI sitcom accidentally a Lynchian fever dream. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and insane lament.
