What's happening in the US in general, but for me especially in the scientific world, is pretty incredible. One could say with exaggeration that the US is becoming a developing country 🤔An announcement by @Zeptej_se_vědce is signed by an interesting sample of Czech scientists, I joined in too.

It is not true that the US retreat from various scientific positions will pass in 4 years. It is easier to cancel anything, to walk away from somewhere, than to come back or to rebuild lost prestige.

A difficult and complex week of negotiations on, among other things, the timetable for the next Report (AR7). Some fossil sanctuaries have found the IPCC's submissions to be so well founded and correct that they are at least trying to push them back in time and not put something in.
#IPCC Chair Jim Skea highlighted steady progress since the start of AR7 and its impact on the UNFCCC process. He said IPCC-62 was set to be a "pivotal session," and outlined the "rich and demanding" agenda for the week ahead. @ipcc.bsky.social

Quite a strange construction over the road 1/11 and the river Lučina in Šenov u Ostravy. The rusty iron structure looks nice when illuminated in the dark. During the day, ...., I prefer not to evaluate, I am not an expert. I don't like it.

The year has come and gone. I wish everyone only the right direction in the years to come. In the current year we managed 37 bottles of wine at home - cheers!

OK this one is truly disturbing but the pic attached to the article does offer some hints about why trust in climate science started eroding. The combination of the Himalayan stats (www.theguardian.com/environment/...) fresh off the back of the ClimateGate scandal (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climati...)

Today, the award ceremony for climate change communication in the Czech Republic. Years ago I was the first laureate and I am grateful for that. Who today?

That's really absurd. And very interesting.
Yes, I realize that my usual temperature anomaly scale is less than ideal for visualization purposes in this image here. But that's also because the #Arctic was absurdly warm compared to the 1981-2010 climatological average in October 2024.

And we don't have the funding to address the impacts of climate change.👎
Just going to park this here.

Snow covered the Czech Republic. It's beautiful and in November it's just right. A nice overview is provided by the Czech National Weather Service (CHMI) webcams, which are set up from west to east, www.chmi.cz/files/portal...

ruSSia wants to lecture and educate us in Europe. It would be good if they would get their house in order. And it's not just about GHG emissions and climate change. It's not even about GHG emissions at all. It just shows what trouble ruSSia is in. And what a problem ruSSia itself is.
