But you won't have a mature conversation about
CGT
Emissions
Health
Education
3 waters
etc.

Fuck you, mate.

But can we? I'd much rather a brash fighter for people, than the limp high school prefect we have atm.
Can we replace hipkins with this guy?
Just leaving this here:

"YES. I AM A SOCIALIST AND I'M PROUD OF IT. YEAH-THERE YOU GO. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. BRING IT ON, AND I'M VERY PROUD TO SAY TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THE WAIRARAPA THAT THEY ELECTED A PROUD SOCIALIST

Yet another example of current lot throwing out something that would have worked, with a more costly mess: www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines... because of *checks notes* racism.
Proposed government water reforms will cost ratepayers more - report
A report says it will undoubtedly see some councils facing continued downward pressure on their credit ratings.

For those that look at Objective-C and think, hmmm good, but it could be more verbose.

I travel a lot. I'm between two centers commuting. Do you know what I've never thought in the last 6 months? Man this traveling would be solved with MOAR ROADS. Pretty much every journey I wish for either fast rail (so I wouldn't have to drive), or decent bulk rail to keep the trucks off the roads.

I am not a knee-jerker, but Slot must be looking over his shoulder? American owners aren't known for their patience, especially after the massive summer spend. #LFC

Do I know any C++ contractors looking for a 12 month(ish) gig onsite in CHC for a major international company?

Proves once and for all economists are equal parts full of shit, and have no fucking idea.
The Auckland University chair of macroeconomics, who hasn't left his office since 1975, thinks there are are people "worth a few hundred thousand" who are landlords and that houses are worth $100k.

I think the left needs to reframe the CGT debate. Something like, "hey y'know this CGT thing - it'll only happen when you sell your holiday home, and it won't be much. It will mean that medical insurance you're now paying for, you won't need to, so overall it's a win"
October 28, 2025 at 6:14 PM
I'm with Stu. Just fn do it.
I say give it a go, what's the worst that can happen?
Has anyone else noticed that any proposed taxes on wealth are regularly derided as useless or unworkable yet those on meagre incomes are always advised that they could be so much better off if only they'd cancel their Sky subscriptions and stop eating avocados?

Watched a flight my 13yo was on, circle CHC airport a few times and head back to AUK last night during the storm. Never felt so powerless. Anyway, all safe and sound in AUK. Not sure how the parent helpers are going to entertain 11 13yos for a day. Glad it's them not me!

Right. I'm going to get as far away from social media for the long weekend as I can, but before I do - just remember we spend a lot of time on here despairing about a bunch of things wrong with the world, but most people are decent and good. We tend to lose sight of that sometimes.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the Act party nomination selections. Because holy fn dogshit, if these are the people they select...
October 24, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Surely not? An Act minister wouldn't lie.
“Children's Commissioner Claire Achmad told RNZ it was unacceptable to see overall harm in state care had increased - with 530 reports of children harmed over the last 12 months.”

For Act Minister Chhour to present another picture is dishonest and callous. #nzpol
Children's Minister accepts state care harm statistics didn't provide full picture
Karen Chhour has acknowledged her initial comments didn't paint a full picture.

Just got season ticket pricing for your Super Rugby Champion Crusaders and we are very lucky in this country at how (relatively) cheap these sort of things are. The highest price is $3200 and that includes getting to take the Crusader horses home for the w/e.

I may have made that last bit up

Comparatives basic primary teacher salary scale range in NZD:
NZ 61,329 - 103,086
AUS 96,713 - 161,312
UK 90,011 - 139,560
SINGAPORE 74,028 - 128,739
IRELAND 85,613 - 165,363
Other countries clearly value their teachers more through their remuneration.

Just remember these MPs writing open letters with lies and FUD saying we can't afford to pay our workers, are also the same people that VASTLY overpaid for Helicopters we don't need, and threw out the deal of the century just because they didn't do it, for a much MUCH worse deal. #1term
