Iceland is very angry at the commission's decision to apply a safeguard to imports of ferro-alloys from EEA countries. Iceland's foreign minister says the decison "goes against the core values of the EEA agreement. We need to stick together more than ever before."

EU a trade power? No.

Perspectives: The EU is not a trade superpower – how to make the best of it - Borderlex - European trade policy
Brussels is institutionally under-powered and over-fragmented to take on the existential trade and related security challenges it is facing. Reshuffling the same old approaches is not working. Continued juggling is simply diminishing further the power of the bloc.

One thing that is crucial to remember here:

This does not return Nexperia to Chinese ownership. The court ruling on October 7 ousted the CEO, not the Goods Availability Act.

This unfreezes restrictions on moving assets + IP out of Europe, but Wing remains frozen out

US Tariffs Reduction on Goods from Switzerland

There have been some faint rumblings about Congress "codifying" Trump's trade deals, but I argue in my latest IELP post that before doing so, members of Congress should think about what exactly they want in terms of the content of trade agreements and the international framework for US trade policy.
Should Congress Codify Trump's Trade Deals?
For the purposes of domestic law, the trade deals negotiated by the Trump administration have been concluded as executive agreements, and there is no indication that the administration wants Congress ...
