BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

I can’t quite put together words on this response outside of I really, REALLY, hate it and think it sucks.

Madeline Dahlien, a 21-year old first-time call-up to the senior national team, is from Edina, Minn., a suburb just outside of Minneapolis and what’s happening hasn’t come up once? At all???
I asked Emma Hayes today:

How are the players in #USWNT camp taking in all that’s going on in Minnesota and nationwide?

How is she handling it with a squad that's not just younger than usual, but is missing many names who regardless of age might lead on this?

And how is she processing it herself?

One thing I will say abt Emma Hayes as USWNT manager is one of her weak points, which is prob tied to her background as a club manager, is understanding the idea that the team represents the United States and there are implications to that beyond things on the field or within the group of players

Our thoughts are with the people in Minnesota and across the country who are bravely standing up for their neighbors despite violence committed by ICE. If you are looking for a way to support the people of Minnesota, we want to highlight the work being done by the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.

From the player they were all excited to honor on Saturday. Also, you have a player from Minnesota, and one of your best players is an immigrant. You absolutely have to grapple at the very least.

If I had more time I would spend time hashing this out: Women's sports figures speak up bravely on issues because they know that a portion of the population hates them.
Men's teams think they can appeal to everyone so they're afraid to offend anyone.
Women's teams inherently know this is false.

A decade ago, a superb small-budget film about a gay footballer called 'WONDERKID' (dir. Rhys Chapman) got the game talking, and was even shown on Sky Sports.

Now #HeatedRivalry has shown what can be achieved when #LGBTQ stories in sports get support. Thanks @marcuswratten.bsky.social for covering.

In the least surprising political news of recent years.

What's going to be really fun is watching Reform argue that they are a "force for change" when they are stacked with the exact same people who lost the last election after being in power for 14 years.
