There's a really beautiful person sitting in front of me on the train with gorgeous tattoos, an interesting book, and an amazing curation of stickers on their water bottle.

Ocean Vuong's The Emperor of Gladness is probably one of the saddest books I have ever read (as in bleak, melancholy, I couldn't read more than 50 pages in one go because it was too overwhelmingly sad)

I tried writing out some thoughts again. That is all this is. An attempt at speaking up, but even more so, an attempt to witness.

I'm realising what a luxury and a joy it is to have a favourite poem from when I was a child.

I’ve gathered over 30 of my favorite illustrations and paintings by Tolkien all in one place - some you’ll recognize, others you might see for the first time.

finally getting started on a thousand plateaus and I having fun with rhizomes. they are my kind of asexuality in a certain way: "Regenerations, reproductions, returns, hydras, and medusas do not get us any further" (p 15).

My supervisor called my revisions promising, does that mean there is actually... hope?

Having one of those "I cannot write a phd" at all moments. Got feedback from my supervisor which is equally constructive as it is confusing + trying to write out a whole new angle and not able to figure out a structure/direction to take.

I wish it wasn’t considered controversial to say that people should not be starved to death. I wish it wasn’t controversial to say that is unacceptable for all of humanity.

Reading about transracialism and I am not sure how I am vibing with it so far. Definitely interesting to consider!

And in today's reading of Tudor's "Decolonizing Trans/Gender Studies?" (2021): "In my view, any decolonization must bridge diaspora approaches with approaches from the global South, connect indigenous studies with migration studies, and question the paradigm of the nation-state" (p. 250).

Talking over my PhD with friends and fellow PhD trial and errors is the best way to move forward for me. It's a pingpong dance of realisations and affirmations.

Looking for some more recent writing on the bridges, gaps, and connections between trans* studies and queer studies. Feel free to share!

Andrea Gibson, my first ever poetry love, passed away. It feels so real and so unreal at the same time. All I can think is, now their voice and their laughter, their joy, is up in the sky.

A good dog.

Hesperocyon is one of the most ancient canids, the oldest fossils of this little carnivore dated to about 42 million years ago. Fossils of this small hunter found in burrows hint that Hesperocyon wasn’t shy about making dens in underground homes dug by other creatures. 🧪
