wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

Burnham and any other northern Labour politician needs to bring the government down over this.

It is absolutely disgusting that yet again we're faced with another 5 years of cuts to our infrastructure.

Just fucking build it and invest in our communities. You want growth? That's how you get it.
For clarity, this government has so far:
- cancelled HS2 north of Birmingham (previous government hadn't actually done that formally)
- cancelled electrification of the Midland Main Line
- cancelled West Yorkshire mass transit
- cancelled the trans-Pennine high speed line

It's like blaming your car for running somebody over.

Gone Fishing is something special, especially at Christmas. A reminder that, despite *all of that*, the world is still full of friends and rivers and dogs.

Two new people have logged Secrets of a Wallaby Boy on Letterboxd! I wonder what they thought...

Amazing how often this has happened in the past year. I seem to have made a uniquely divisive movie.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.
