Dilley is a hellhole and we have to get it shut down and all those kids freed.
The public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley.

Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo.

Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles.

Get them out!

Our new paper and associated blog post were published today! And @biancanogr.bsky.social and @diemq.bsky.social finally made bsky accounts so I could tag them.

This is Bianca's paper from our lab and DiemQuynh's first ever.

I'm so happy to have this review out finally!
A new paper, "Honeypots: a review of repletism across the ants" from our lab was published today, with grad student Bianca Nogueira as first author, and co-authors DiemQuynh Nguyen, @adriatica.bsky.social, and @haidomyrmex.bsky.social.

It was a labor of love!

The Murphy Lab did our annual retreat this week. This year's theme was using AI (what it's good and bad for). I wanted to be open-minded to make sure we are not missing something we should be using it for, so we did a few exercises to test, and had presentations.

I started getting reports of an unseasonal Joshua tree bloom in the last few weeks, and looking over records on @inaturalist.bsky.social it's pretty widespread! So we're putting out the call for folks to record this "bonus bloom" and help us study it 🌿

- Forced reorg

- POs down ~ 40% (DRP, most rotators not renewed, retirements)

- Forced move (and we have to pack and clean) to a building with no furniture, little to no conference space for panels, inadequate 🛜, …)

I personally love the boxes they gave us for packing.

We all learned a lot, received great feedback and had great conversations with other attendees. @njmicrobe.bsky.social

We study novel symbioses that we aren’t always sure if they are good or bad for each partner (and is likely context dependent).

It may sound strange, but it’s kind of hard to tell sometimes when you first find them 🤷🏻‍♀️

We need the term symbiosis for that without lumping them in with mutualisms.
