We haven't taken proper pictures this time but here's a little video of the results of one of our digs

Things have taken a turn for the crappy on the #SabbaticalRoadtrip. Our beloved RV Bernie finally bit the dust and we've left it behind in Barstow, CA. We will make the rest of our trip with rental cars.

But just as we arrived in Vegas, we were rear-ended. Everyone is ok but frustrated AF.

We reached the westernmost point of our #SabbaticalRoadtrip with a stop in LA. Got to spend some lovely time with @ecoevolab.bsky.social and @octopiedpiper.bsky.social who were wonderful hosts. And then I dug a honeypot ant colony with help from Alex, one of Casey's students.

Once we were finally able to leave Tucson, we traveled to Indio, CA where we spent a bit of time with my brother and his family who were vacationing there. #SabbaticalRoadtrip

We finally hit the road again on our #SabbaticalRoadtrip after Matt rebuilt our engine at Michele and Andrew's house in Tucson! California, here we come!

We stopped in Portal, AZ to visit friend/collaborator Michele Lanan on the #SabbaticalRoadtrip.

But then we didn't get far. We've had to stop at Michele's other place in Tucson for some much-needed engine repairs 😬

Next stop on the #SabbaticalRoadtrip is to see @fungi-lover.bsky.social in Las Cruces, NM! Also a pit stop to make some repairs to our RV. Now we're ready to hit the road again.

The #SabbaticalRoadtrip continues. Had a lovely time in New Orleans for several days and then Austin. Excellent music, food and company were enjoyed. And now we're back to inching our way west!

And of course, the cats are staying cute.

The second stop on the #SabbaticalRoadtrip was the Jones Center at Ichauway, in Southern Georgia, to visit Kier Klepzig. What a lovely place full of good forest management, research, and horses.

First stop on my #SabbaticalRoadtrip was at Emory, to give a talk to the PBEE folks. It was an absolutely amazing visit! So good to be around so many folks studying different aspects of symbiosis. Thankful to my lovely host Nicole Gerardo

One of my cats is having teeth extracted this evening, so I've had to keep food and water away from both cats. They're unhappy with me.
