need more cosmopolitan chauvinism imo. to be able to go to a world city and do this without crossing a border is something you should be proud of, it means you're a great country. To want to tear it down means you are inbred provincial hog with no greater drives than envy and fear.

the obvious answer is also that if the US seizes greenland, europe will be booting US troops off the continent and talking about they can sever economic ties, which would make us poorer and less safe - all for a landmass which has at best tertiary material and strategic value

I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.

I guess it's historically pretty normal but it's a bit funny to me that America has this centuries-long struggle for freedom, then Nixon becomes the first democratically elected president & immediately forms a conspiracy to undermine democracy. Not because he was unpopular, just on general principle
