NPR released David Byrne's Tiny Desk Concert earlier this AM. All I can say is what a great way to start this Monday morning...

That is disappointing. Of course, I'll still watch.
NEWS: Darryn Peterson will not play for Kansas tonight in the big game against Duke in the Champions Classic, Bill Self told CBS Sports. A big blow: Duke is a heavy favorite and it robs the matchup of Peterson and Cam Boozer—maybe the top two 2026 NBA picks—of playing vs. each other.

I always thought Pottersville looked like a whole lot more fun. <ducks>
For reasons I needed to watch Its a Wonderful Life again last night.

Will do a thread closer to Christmas about it, but next time you watch it, remember this:

Both Capra and Stewart had just come back from WW2. Consider every directing, script and acting decision with that context in mind.

Given the current price of coffee, it seems that all home brewing of that beverage isn't cost saving. Buyers in bulk easily win at this moment.
the fun thing about home espresso brewing is it will absolutely not save you money, especially if you are the kind of person who tends to become obsessive about technical details

The facts of this as I have read so far...the investigation of Bolton started under Biden...Bolton did do something really wrong by including sensitive info in emails that were later hacked...and most surprisingly, the Trump investigation up to this point has followed a very normal and legal path
BREAKING: Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Maryland, CNN reports

How did historians get this Columbus thing so wrong?
Pretty sure I say this every Columbus Day, but getting hauled back to Spain for excessive brutality in 1500, just as the Inquisition was really getting fired up, is some genuinely Evil Guys Hall of Infamy material

This is a very detailed accounting of possible pandemic origins. Kudos to the author.
I really like this piece, particularly the paragraph near the beginning that talks about it *not actually mattering*. Good ideas for enhanced zoonotic virus surveillance and enhanced biosafety are welcome regardless of the origins of Covid. gidmk.substack.com/p/pandemic-r...

The leading coalition of American health insurers also committed to providing uninterrupted coverage for these same vaccines.
